Our Story
Who We Are
With the blessing of Bishop Carl Kemme of Wichita, and under the guidance of the Blessed Mother and her “fiat,” Fiat Ministries seeks to foster prayer, self-knowledge, and authentic discernment in young Catholic women through a true relationship with Jesus Christ. Fiat Ministries, at its heart, is Christocentric, Eucharistic, Sacramental, Marian, and Prayerful.
Our Retreats
The Fiat Discernment Retreat is for women ages 18-30 who are seeking God’s will for their life. It is led by a team of lay people from Wichita, KS. Consecrated sisters from various religious communities from the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious assist at the retreat by giving talks, leading small groups, giving their testimonies, and providing a joyful witness of what it means to be a consecrated religious sister.
The Fiat Ministries discernment retreat is structured around the concepts of femininity, prayer, mercy, consecrated life, and discernment in order to encourage young women to trust the Lord and be led by Him.
This is a discernment retreat and not a vocation fair or recruitment event. Ultimately, our goal is for the attendees to walk away with a greater understanding of religious life and a greater desire to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our History
Fiat Ministries has truly been a work of the Holy Spirit and rooted in prayer. The Fiat Discernment Retreat was created in response to the growing need for resources and support for women discerning a consecrated vocation. The first retreat was held at St. Mark the Evangelist Parish in the Diocese of Wichita, January 2014. The mission and structure of the Fiat Discernment Retreat was presented at the Council of Major Superiors of Women Religious Formators’ Workshop in Philadelphia, PA in February of 2017, and started expanding outside the Diocese of Wichita later that year. The retreat has since grown and now has been expanding out of the Midwest.
